AFL- Lions month is Junenormous

11/06/2008 4:25:00 PM
A week off from football commitments has allowed for a bit of a breather for the Lions committee, players, parents and supporters.

The Lions thus far have been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride in all grades with the U15s shining through sitting on second place.

With 10 rounds to go anything is possible in the run to make the finals.

June is a bit of a mixed bag for all the grades with only the U17s and seniors playing this weekend at Eden.

On Saturday, June 21 the Lions are at home against Batemans Bay playing in the U17s, reserves and seniors.

The U11s, U13s and U15s don’t get a game until they play Tathra again on June 28 at Narooma.

Hopefully we will see a few points going Narooma’s way on the ladder.

About 5pm this Thursday after the juniors complete their training session, the Lions committee is hosting a barbecue for the Cubs at the Bill Symth Oval.

We would like to see as many Cubs as possible to attend, rain, hail or shine.

The reserves and seniors will don their footy boots then the barbecue will continue after their training session.

A members draw is also held every Thursday evening where the member must be present to win.

So for those of you that are interested, come down and watch the boys train with a snagg or two.

Saturday June 28 is a big day for the Lions, with all grades of the Lions playing at home against the Tathra Sea Eagles.

This day is also the major sponsors day, where the Lions can reciprocate a little of the sponsors support.

The Lions major sponsors are the Narooma Golf Club, Rapleys Midtown Quality Meats, IGA Narooma, Narooma Fruit and Veg, Dalmeny Glass Service, Van Soest Carpentry, Narooma Concreting, Betta Electrical, 2 Brothers Tyres and Mechanical, Dalmeny Electrical, The Spaceroom, Narooma Tree Lopping, Gross’s Appliance Services, David Creed Lawnmowing, Narooma Garden Centre, Scott and Nathan Hawker Pty Ltd, Narooma Plumbing/Solarpower, ICU Security Cameras, JSM Australia Pty Ltd, Cadgee Quarry Concreting, Narooma Electrical, Festival Motor Inn, Autopro Narooma, and Southpower.

This is an invitation for all mentioned, to come down and have a day at the footy.

That evening the Lions are holding their 25th Anniversary Dinner at the Narooma Golf Club. The function is in the main auditorium from 6pm.

The cost is $40, the attire smart/casual, with a three course meal and entertainment provided.

Persons interested can contact president Mick Clothier on 44 765 161 or secretary Gabe Collins on 44 765 748 as soon as possible.

100 club draw on Friday night was Darryl Kemp.
