Flasher sought

Police are seeking assistance in identifying a male who has exposed himself to two young females in a park in Tuross Head around 2.30pm on Sunday, August 17. The male described as Caucasian, approx 30 old, 5’10 tall, long dark hair, wearing sunglasses, a hat, baggy pants and a white shirt walked out of bushes and simply exposed himself to the two females. The man has walked for a distance of around 20 metres before going back into the bushes. The girls did not report this matter to their parents until a later date.

Tip break

Police are investigating a break and enter offence at the Brou tip north of Narooma that occurred around 9.30pm on Friday, August 22. Police are in the process of viewing CCTV footage which they are hopeful of assisting them in the matter. It does not appear that any property has been stolen at this stage; however attempts were made at removing the safe.

Blood red road rage

Police arrested a 33-year-old man after reports of a bloody fistfight at the Narooma Plaza at 3pm on Wednesday, August 13.

It is believed the 33-year-old man, who was driving a green utility followed the driver of another vehicle to the Plaza car park after a traffic incident on the Princes Highway.

The man was witnessed screaming abuse from his car before parking his vehicle. Witnesses report a fight between two men broke out with one man sustaining lacerations to the face.

Police arrived at the scene and found one of the men involved in the brawl sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle with a bloody face.

Officers searched the area and located the 33-year old man at the upper level of the plaza.

The man became abusive towards police after being approached to assist with investigations.

The man made aggressive gestures and yelled at police, taunting them and shouting “charge me.”

Officers believed the man to be intoxicated and subjected him to a breath test.

As a result of a positive reading he was arrested and conveyed to the Narooma Police station for breath analysis where he recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.185.

Police suspended the 33-year-old man’s license and charged him with high range drink driving offences to appear before Narooma Local Court.

Crap attack

Police are investigating the malicious damage of a toilet block at a National Park at Mystery Bay.

What the toilet block may have done to provoke the attack is yet to be determined.

Vandals caused approximately $1500 worth of damage as they smashed holes in the doors and walls of a public toilet block and water tank as well as pulling down a number of signs, between Friday, August 8 and Monday, August 11.

Long haul home

Police stopped a Tasmanian man driving a truck unregistered since 2007.

The man offered numerous excuses for failing to observe the law.

Police issued the man with tickets to the value of more than $900.

He was not permitted to drive the vehicle and had to have the truck towed away from the scene.

Are you being served?

A 49-year-old man verbally abused staff with offensive language at Narooma’s St Vincent DePaul store at 11.30am on Wednesday, August 30.

Police were called to the scene.

After locating the man he began to rant and rave at police about unrelated matters. Police charged the man with intimidation.

One that got away

Thieves stole fishing rods worth $300 from a boat parked on Dalmeny Dve Kianga.

The crime took place between 11am Friday, August 8 and 3.15pm Thursday, August 14.

No license to lose

Police patrolling the Wallaga Lake area followed a man casually cruising around despite being unlicensed.

Officers stopped the 42-year-old man at 1.05pm on Monday, August 11.

He was charged with driving vehicle while unlicensed.

Slasher on the loose

Unknown persons slashed three tyres and spray-painted a car causing about $300 worth of damage.

The car was parked on the road in the Kianga area when the incident took place between 8pm on Friday, August 15 and 7am on Saturday, August 16.

Taxi!

A number of drink drivers have been busted on the roads with Narooma officers reporting six cases in the past week.

Police say drivers should call a taxi, friend or family member to drive them when they have been drinking.

Officers will be stepping up breath testing in response to the high number of drink drivers on the road.

Police charged a 57-year-old man with mid range drink driving after he was stopped for a random breath test in Campbell St Moruya at 6.50pm on Thursday, August 14.

His license was suspended after a recorded a reading of .080. The man will appear before Moruya court to face charges.

A 31-year-old woman from Dalmeny will face court for a low range drink driving charge after returning a 0.060 reading for a random breath test at 1am on Sunday, August 17.

Officers suspended a 36-year-old man from driving after he was caught driving with a blood alcohol level of .115.

The man was stopped for a random breath test at 9.50pm on Monday, August 18. He will face Narooma local court on mid range drink driving charges.

See the light

Police will step up patrols around the Narooma Library after $500 worth of lights were smashed at some time on the night of Friday, August 22.

Guess the jellybeans

An amount of cash was found and handed in to police.

Someone smashed

A car windscreen was cracked and a window smashed in the car park of the Narooma Services club on the night of Thursday, August 21. Any persons with information can contact local police.

Drunk, driving and legless

A man so drunk that he fell out of his car and almost onto police as he got out of his vehicle after driving has been charged with driving under the influence.

Undercover police followed the 55-year-old man home on the night of Saturday, August 23.

Car alight at North Narooma

TWO units from Narooma and one from Dalmeny Rural Fire Brigades were called to a car alight on the headland off Centenary Drive at North Narooma on Saturday night. The car was well alight upon the brigades arrival and Narooma Police were already in attendance. The vehicle’s fuel tank was directly under the impact of fire and was spewing flames out of its inlet as it boiled creating a very dangerous situation for firefighters.

With several units arriving quickly on scene, the fire was brought under control without the fuel tank exploding. Unfortunately the Nissan Pulsar was totally destroyed.

The initial 000 call came in at approximately 9:18pm and several more emergency calls followed closely behind as the flames from the vehicle could be clearly seen from residents around the foreshores of Narooma, Nth Narooma and Kianga.
